Our Principal Industry Leads will support in the the delivery of Council’s economic development priorities with a specific industry (lead) focus as outlined in the Regional Economic Development Strategy (REDS). With three opportunities available, we are looking for professionals who specialise in or have the appetite to immerse themselves in either Advanced Manufacturing, Food and Agriculture or Tourism Sports and Major Events industries.
As one of our Principal Industry Leads, you’ll manage the delivery of specified strategic and complex projects that support delivery of REDS industry advancement. Leveraging your highly refined communication skills, you’ll develop and foster effective, consultative and collaborative working relationships and networks with key stakeholders across the public and private sectors, on matters related to industry advancement/economic development of the region.
Additionally, your accountability will include:
- Leading industry development for the region, focusing on one or more of the REDS’ pathways and/or priority industries and research and develop strategies and position papers (internally/externally) to guide economic development activities and programs.
- Leading or participating in a wide range of industry/business development and trade-related events and activities to showcase the Moreton Bay region’s economy and/or further the priority industries outlined in the REDS.
Ideally specialising in either Advanced Manufacturing, Food and Agriculture or Tourism Sports and Major Events industries, you’ll apply your demonstrated capacity to establish and maintain productive relationships with industry groups across a range of sectors. You’ll have a well-developed ability to liaise and consult with a range of stakeholders on various levels and you know your audiences - with the ability to disseminate complex written material to ensure our messages are clear.
In addition, you will bring:
- Demonstrated experience in identifying, researching and developing major economic development strategies and projects.
- Experience in the management and implementation of project plans to facilitate economic development for the region.
- Demonstrated skills in collection, analysis and management of data to inform regional economic development activities.
- Recognised tertiary qualifications relevant to the role and/or extensive relative experience in a similar role or environment.
Availability to undertake occasional work outside business hours and travel outside the Moreton Bay region (throughout Queensland and interstate) as required
Term: Permanent Full Time
Award/Level: Qld Local Government Industry Award Stream A - Level 7 of the Moreton Bay Regional Council EBA4 Certified Agreement
Package: $98,172 salary pa, plus 9 day fortnight, and up to 12% superannuation, leave loading, 72.5 hour fortnight & 4 weeks annual leave
Please note that whilst the current work location for this position is specified above, staff may be required to transfer to any of council's work locations with notice. Council currently has administration offices located at Caboolture, Strathpine and Redcliffe as well as depots, libraries and a range of other facilities located throughout the region.
