This role sits within our Cultural Services Department, which includes Galleries, Heritage and Museums, Libraries, and Cultural Activation. Cultural Services aim to provide engaging leisure and learning experiences by connecting people to resources and each other. We strive for excellence when delivering exhibitions, information, collections, programs and spaces for our community and visitors. Our department employs approximately 220 staff over 16 venues throughout the region.
About our opportunity
We have three new and exciting part time Gallery Officer opportunities across our Galleries at Redcliffe, Caboolture and Strathpine.
As a Gallery Officer, you will be overseeing routine gallery operations and assisting with the development, promotion and delivery of exciting public programs and events. From tours, art studios, tributes and family friendly events - your duties will be varied and fast paced!
You will have the rewarding opportunity to assist the Gallery Leader in developing team members’ skills by overseeing their routine tasks and identifying opportunities for their learning and growth within the industry - all whilst building upon your own leadership skills!
With this oversight, you will also ensure the presentation of a continual exhibition program that generates positive visitor experiences for all to enjoy. As our galleries are community hubs for experiencing, learning and engaging - in addition you will ensure and promote exhibitions and programs that are locally developed and welcoming to diverse audiences.
Other duties of the Gallery Officer will involve reviewing gallery processes and procedures and preparing information required for venue performance reporting.
We are seeking passionate and experienced candidates that understand and are familiar with the operations of a visitor-focussed cultural facility. With this, you will bring experience developing and delivering public programs and delivering high quality customer service.
As you will be overseeing team members perform their duties, it is important that you can demonstrate leadership qualities and experiences that align with our culture and values. As a must, you will have exceptional time management skills and interpersonal skills to ensure a strong focus on the provision of exceptional visitor experiences.
- Working with Children Check (Blue Card).
- Current driver’s licence.
- COVID-19 vaccination - in accordance with the current QLD Health mandate
Although not essential, candidates that hold a certificate III in Information and Cultural Services will be highly desired.
Hours of Work
As the positions are part-time and our galleries are open weekends, the following availability at each venue is required: Saturday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and every second Thursday from 9.45am until 4.15pm.
Please note that these days and shifts are subject to change due to operational requirements at each venue.

Term: Permanent Part Time
Award/Level: Qld Local Government Industry Award (Stream A) - Level 3 of the Moreton Bay Regional Council EBA4 Certified Agreement
Location: 1 position at each gallery location (Strathpine, Caboolture and Redcliffe). Whilst you will indicate your location preference, your application and placement if successful, could be at any of these locations.
- $37.70 per hour + super (up to 12%) + leave loading
- Penalty rates do apply for weekend work.
- 54 hours per fortnight
