The primary focus of our Drainage Waterways and Coastal Planning department is to plan, manage and design the region's coastal, stormwater and floodplain management infrastructure, including built and natural form assets, consistent with Council's corporate strategic vision, policies and strategies.
About the Opportunity:
As our Stormwater Infrastructure Engineer you will, undertake technical investigations and engineering design for a range of stormwater infrastructure, drainage, flood and water quality related matters to meet the needs of the community within the Moreton Bay Regional Council area.
In this role you will have real ownership of projects and have the opportunity to see them progress start to finish, helping to design, deliver and manage sustainable infrastructure solutions for our community. In addition, you will:
- undertake planning of stormwater infrastructure, including urban and rural, open and reticulated drainage systems, Water Sensitive Urban Design, riparian and waterway restoration, stormwater network design and problem solving to resolve service conflicts
- investigate stormwater problems, assist with specialist investigations including floodplain and stormwater modelling, and contribute to the preparation of detailed options analysis and provide recommendations to management
- provide input and review of projects for coordination with other Council technical specialists and stakeholders.
- prioritise and monitor workload ensuring all requests are managed professionally, timeframes are met, and follow-up actions are executed
- contribute to a positive team environment in order to achieve a high performance, continuous improvement and customer focused culture.
About you:

We are seeking someone with knowledge and experience in stormwater infrastructure management, experience undertaking technical investigations relating to stormwater and the ability to apply critical thinking, reasoning, evaluation and decision making skills.
You will have experience in preparing preliminary engineering designs and cost estimates for stormwater infrastructure projects. You will have excellent communications skills and be confident work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
You will hold a degree in Civil or Environmental engineering or equivalent and have a passion to work within a highly dynamic and talented team as a contributor and collaborator.
