  • From $67,546 up to $87,291 pa + super (up to 12%) + leave loading
    Qld Local Government Industry Award (Stream A) - Level 2 up to Level 5 of the MBRC EBA4 Certified Agreement

    The appointed wage level will be dependent upon the successful candidates level of experience, skills and qualifications. 
  • 9 day fortnight
  • 72.5 hour fortnight
  • Hybrid, flexible working environment, including some work from home days.
  • Location: Strathpine

Integrated Transport Planning and Design

The position sits within the Integrated Transport Planning and Design department. The primary focus of this department is to plan, manage and design the region's integrated transport network consistent with Council's corporate strategic vision, policies and strategies.

About the role:

Come and join a large team of Civil Design professionals, where you will be exposed to a wide variety of projects across in both size, scale and technical scope ensuring the ability to diversify your skills and experience across different civil projects.

We provide a collaborative team environment, where ideas and shared learning is encouraged and supported, as well as the ability to innovate across design processes.

As a member of the Civil Design Team, you will prepare and provide assistance with the delivery of quality design and documentation for civic projects that incorporate a range of elements that form the built environment and are consistent with Council’s strategic outcomes of quality urban design and placemaking. 

Some key responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing moderately complex and integrated designs and applying technical design knowledge to the development of solutions that integrate transport, water sensitive design, streetscaping and urban design
  • Preparing accurate estimates of costs and project documentation using schedules of rates, bills of quantities and identifying issues that may impact cost
  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders to obtain or provide information to assist with the completion of project designs
  • Acting as a point of contact for design matters by providing sound advice and contributing to design meetings
  • Undertaking site inspections associated with design responsibilities

About you:

If you are currently studying, you will bring an enthusiastic approach and willingness to learn Civil Design from a dedicated design team.

Applicants with prior experience in Civil Design will benefit by utilising their design skills on a variety of projects and have the ability to work across the end to end design process for various infrastructure projects.

You will have a strong customer service focus and the ability to adapt and find solutions whilst maintaining strategic outcomes. Your ability to effectively time manage deadlines and conflicting priorities will ensure your effectiveness in managing tasks to agreed timeframes. Your well-developed communication skills will enable you to liaise effectively with stakeholders across the community and within council.

To be successful in this role you will also bring:

  • Proficiency commensurate with your level of experience in the preparation of engineering design plans and the integration of other elements of the built environment using computer aided design methods including AutoCAD and 12d model software or equivalent. 
  • Construction Induction Card competency that has been used or obtained within the past 2 years
  • Ability to accurately measure quantities for the preparation of cost estimates as well as interpret client needs through written documentation (design briefs)
  • Ability to read survey plans and interpret survey field data

This opportunity is open to candidates that are currently studying or have already completed a Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or other relevant field.  Consideration may be given to applicants who don’t hold a formal qualification but have demonstrated extensive civil design experience.
