Join City of Moreton Bay as a Principal Community Engagement Officer and help shape and enhance our communities for today and tomorrow.

Our Community Engagement Department has an exciting opportunity for an outstanding expert. Our innovative and motivated specialists work to understand the values, needs, priorities and aspirations of our communities so Council can make evidence-based decisions.

The team operates as an inhouse service provider to Council’s other divisions and departments. This means there is never a dull day as each team member manages a unique mix of projects! Examples of key focus areas of the team currently include: natural hazard preparedness and response, infrastructure planning and delivery, strategic plan development to support the delivery of Council’s Corporate Plan and Strategies, and planning for future population growth and development across our city. The team also administers the IAP2 international award-winning Moreton Says survey program helping us understand the things that matter most to our communities.

As one of our Principal Community Engagement Officers, you will play an essential role in assessing engagement needs and designing best practice Community Engagement Plans in collaboration with teams from across Council. You will operate at a strategic level while getting hands-on with the development and delivery of digital and traditional engagement collateral and activities. Acting as a key point of contact for both internal and external stakeholders, you’ll identify key risks and opportunities and bring innovative solutions to encourage participation. You will develop insightful and meaningful engagement reports to inform Council’s planning and decision-making. You will be called upon to brief local Councillors and our Mayor on what City of Moreton Bay’s communities have said.

You will work with a dedicated team who drive high standards of engagement through evidence-based planning, implementation, and reporting.  You will mentor and assist emerging professionals in the team and help build engagement capacity across the organisation where required.

About you

You will bring your commitment to outstanding engagement and extensive experience in the delivery of community engagement projects and activities. Your genuine passion for connecting the voices of your community with the decision-makers that shape the future will emanate bringing authenticity to your work. Your interest in research and data analysis will enable you to accurately present what the community has said to inform Council planning and decision-making.

Your skills in project management, ability to agilely manage competing priorities in a rapidly changing environment, focus on meeting critical deadlines and passion for building strong relationships are essential.

As a natural collaborator, you’ll have excellent liaison skills and an ability to innately understand stakeholder requirements. You’ll relish the opportunity to support the strong desire across the organisation to engage and to engage well.

Your energy, positivity and constructive feedback will contribute to the supportive and cooperative team culture. You will have the ability and willingness to work occasionally outside normal working hours, including weekends as required to enable fair and reasonable opportunities for communities to have their say.
