About our opportunity

Due to a recent internal promotion, our Corporate Communications team is on the search for a new leader to drive the delivery of projects that support our growing city and Council.

This is an opportunity to be involved in the strategic communication planning for such a great diversity of topics.  Where else but Local Government will you support strategic communications for Local Laws, Planning, Waste Services, Economic Development, Sport and Recreation, Community Facilities, Libraries... and so much more!

As one of two Principals in the team, you will lead and develop expert marketing and communication advice and services, including strategic public relations support to the Mayor, Councillors, and other key stakeholders across Council.

Reporting directly to the Corporate Communications Manager, you will be integral to ensuring marketing and communication is coordinated across council, and communication strategies and plans are delivered at a high standard and embedded into business processes.

In addition, you'll:

  • Deliver a consistently high standard of written communications, stakeholder engagement, collateral and reporting.
  • Identify, plan and develop highly effective marketing and communications opportunities and content that promote Council.
  • Manage potential reputational risks by developing suitable communication strategies.
  • Value-add in the City of Moreton Bay brand project.
  • Establish and maintain positive and productive relationships with local, regional and metropolitan stakeholders.
  • Obtain input, monitor and report on stakeholder communication needs, interests and issues.
  • Monitor social media and media coverage and provide relevant reporting to manage crisis situations, measure effectiveness of campaigns and inform content.
  • Guide digital communication content across multiple projects.
  • Prepare high quality documentation ranging in complexity from correspondence to reports which are relevant to the audience.
  • Participate in systems, policy and process improvement initiatives to improve operations.

About you

We are on the search for an experienced marketing and communications professional ready for that next challenge... sound like you??

You will bring your significant experience in providing effective communication strategy advice, a proven ability to successfully influence behaviour change through campaigns, and have a genuine interest and understanding of the local, state and national media landscape.

We are seeking a leader to guide the team in an environment that can quickly evolve. You will be adept in leading and managing complex reputational issues using initiative and judgement in a fast-paced environment.

With a forensic eye for detail and experience and enthusiasm for turning complicated topics/research/analysis into more easily comprehended messages for target audiences, this role will be a great next challenge for you!
