About our opportunity

We have two exciting opportunities for Senior Environment Officer’s to join our Environmental Services team at Caboolture!

Senior Environment Officer (Projects)

Reporting directly to the Coordinator Environmental Centres and Projects, you will provide specialist advice and project management to deliver environment related projects aimed at protecting and enhancing the regions natural assets.

You will also:

  • have a sound working knowledge of contaminated land assessment and management, with capability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team managing contaminated sites.
  • be specialised in ecology, waterways and catchment management as well as GIS and pollution management with the ability to identify, assess and implement environmental strategies to achieve positive outcomes for the region.
  • facilitate project-based community consultation, including representing Council at a range of customer meetings and business forums.
  • be well adept at identifying environmental risks with the ability to provide timely reports and advice on project delivery to stakeholders.

Senior Environment Officer (Environment)

Reporting to Team Leader Environment, you will develop and deliver a range of projects that respond to current and emerging environmental issues across our City! This will include management of native wildlife, regional monitoring of flora and fauna and planning and delivery of small-scale bespoke restoration projects. 

Leading a small team of Environment Officers, they will look to you for advice on complex, escalated or sensitive issues…you will also:

  • lead the education and training for external stakeholders, including Council’s flying fox heat stress implementation plan and Regional Species Management Plan (SMP)
  • lead the monitoring of fauna and flora to measure and analyse ecological health and biodiversity and provide appropriate advice to residents and community groups
  • scope and write grants for environmental related projects and contribute to the project management and acquittal of approved grants.

About you

We are looking for effective communicators, with strong interpersonal and communications skills, enabling you to motivate and converse with a range of internal and external stakeholders.

You will have project management experience and knowledge of Queensland environment legislation to successfully deliver various environmental projects to optimise outcomes for the Council and customers.

You will enjoy working as part of a team and be comfortable working remotely across our vast region…and be enthusiastic about this exciting new challenge!
