  • $94,415pa + super (up to 12%) + leave loading
    Qld Local Government Industry Award (Stream A) - Level 5 of EBA5
  • 9 day fortnight
  • 72.5 hour fortnight
  • Hybrid, flexible working environment, by negotiation, in line with business needs
  • Location: based at Strathpine with work across the region

About our opportunity

We are seeking TWO ADDITIONAL candidates to join a new team responding to the increasing impacts of homelessness across our city.  

Reporting to the Community Development Team Leader, you will work in pairs to outreach across the city to connect people experiencing homelessness with support services and provide education about their responsibilities whilst camping in Council-controlled public spaces.

This role will see you working closely with our Community Development, Local Laws and Asset Maintenance teams in Council’s response to homelessness.  You will also partner closely with key government and community organisations to manage emerging issues and advocate for housing outcomes.  

While representing Council, you will promote the shared use of public space across the community.

About you

We are seeking candidates who have experience in building and maintaining positive relationships with diverse stakeholders including people experiencing homelessness, Government Departments, community services, businesses, and residents.

You will have a high level of self-awareness and ability to maintain a calm and professional approach when engaging with people that may feel aggrieved, become aggressive, and/or be experiencing mental and physical health concerns.

You will bring your problem-solving skills to respond to crisis using empathy and professionalism.
