  • $112k - $119k pa + 12% super
    Qld Local Government Industry Award (Stream A) - Level 7 of EBA5
  • 72.5 hour fortnight
  • Hybrid, flexible working environment, including some work from home days.
  • Location: Strathpine

This role sits within our External Relations - Advocacy team, which works in partnership with Council divisions and external stakeholders to drive strategic coordination, advocacy and other services that enhance Council’s reputation and deliver positive economic and community outcomes which support Council’s strategic goals.

Our advocacy agenda is focused on creating positive collaboration between all levels of government to unlock our city's potential. Our team seeks to bring challenges and opportunities to the attention of decision-makers through constructive engagement and collaboration. This ensures policy and investment decisions of other levels of government and other strategic partners deliver the greatest benefit to our city and support our community’s vision for City of Moreton Bay.

About our opportunity

Working closely with the Principal, you will provide support and expertise in managing and delivering government relations, stakeholder engagement and advocacy to support Council’s advocacy agenda and the strategic interests of City of Moreton Bay.

This role sits within the Government Relations function of the advocacy team, that focuses on advocating and providing submissions to State and Federal Governments on relevant policy and program issues and funding opportunities, whilst building and maintaining key political and stakeholder relationships and networks.

You will develop and implement strategic, tactical and operational plans, projects and initiatives that enhance Council’s reputation and deliver positive investment and advocacy outcomes for the city. Additionally you will:

  • Manage complex reputational issues, understanding stakeholder perspectives, and navigate political relationships to achieve positive outcomes for City of Moreton Bay.
  • Undertake research and prepare briefing notes on relevant policy and advocacy program issues.
  • Coordinate advocacy initiatives including engaging with internal and external stakeholders and seeking opportunities for investment including preparing funding applications to state and federal governments.

We are seeking an exceptional communicator with experience in building quality working relationships and driving productive government relations and advocacy, looking for that next challenge!

Your strong influencing and negotiation skills paired with an understanding of strategic and political perspectives on federal, state and local matters will quickly have you become a valuable member of our team.
