About our opportunity

We have an exciting full time opportunity available for a Museum Officer to join our team at the Redcliffe Museum!

As a Museum Officer, you will be overseeing routine museum operations and assisting with the development, promotion and delivery of exciting public programs and events. From tours, gala nights, tributes and family friendly events - your duties will be varied and fast paced!

You will have the rewarding opportunity to assist the Museum Leader in developing team members’ skills by overseeing their routine museums tasks and identifying opportunities for their learning and growth within the industry - all whilst building upon your own leadership skills.

With this oversight, you will also ensure the presentation of a continual exhibition program that generates positive visitor experiences for all to enjoy. As our museums are community hubs for experiencing, learning and engaging - in addition you will ensure and promote exhibitions and programs that are locally developed and welcoming to diverse audiences. Council currently has museums located at Bribie Island, Redcliffe and Whiteside.

Other duties of the Museum Officer will involve reviewing museum processes and procedures and preparing information required for venue performance reporting.

Our Redcliffe Museum is open Wednesday to Sunday from 10:00am to 4:00pm. We operate at this location with a 4-week rotating roster and the successful applicant will need to be available to work any 5 out of 7 days as part of the ordinary hours. We anticipate the roster will include working two Saturdays and Sundays a month.  

About you

We are seeking passionate and experienced candidates that understand and are familiar with the operations of a visitor-focussed cultural facility. With this, you will bring experience developing and delivering public programs and delivering high quality customer service.

As you will be overseeing team members perform their duties, it is important that you can demonstrate leadership qualities and experiences that align with our culture and values. As a must, you will have exceptional time management skills and interpersonal skills to ensure a strong focus on the provision of exceptional visitor experiences.
