This role sits within our External Relations - Advocacy team, which works in partnership with Council divisions and external stakeholders to drive strategic coordination, advocacy, government relations and other services that enhance Council’s reputation and deliver positive economic and community outcomes which support Council’s strategic goals.

This ensures policy and investment decisions of other levels of government and other strategic partners deliver the greatest benefit to our city and support our community’s vision for City of Moreton Bay.

Working closely with the Principal, you will provide specialist technical and strategic advice and be responsible for the delivery of complex advocacy proposals and projects, in a politically sensitive environment to support Council’s advocacy agenda and the strategic interests of City of Moreton Bay.
This role sits within the Major Projects function of the advocacy team. It involves collaborating across Council and with external stakeholders on key infrastructure and city-shaping projects that have potential to make a real impact on the lives of our community - including leveraging the benefits for Moreton Bay from the Brisbane 2032 Olympics and Paralympics.
In this role you will:
- Act as a technical specialist and collaborator, providing guidance, policy integration and support to key stakeholders in the implementation of Council’s advocacy agenda including seeking external funding.
- Lead the delivery of complex and multi-disciplinary proposals and projects across the Council and with external partners to achieve strategic and business outcomes.
- Provide advice and actively manage issues by understanding differing stakeholder perspectives, complex and politically sensitive relationships, and providing support to achieve positive outcomes for Council.

About you
An excellent communicator, you will be an expert in building both internal and external relationships. You will be able to research and collaborate to provide accurate and timely advice across a range of technical, strategic and policy matters, ideally with ample experience in complex local government infrastructure projects that deliver strategic, including economic development outcomes and benefits for our communities.
Your highly developed analytical skills and an ability to take a strategic and political perspective on federal, state and local matters, will be highly valued by our team. In addition, you will have experience in:
- Coordinating projects with government, industry and community partners.
- Negotiating positive policy, reputation and funding outcomes including preparing successful grant applications and maintaining effective stakeholder relationships.
- Reviewing complex technical information and preparing concise strategic documents, reports, proposals, actions plans, advocacy strategies and briefing papers.
