This role is part of Building and Plumbing Services in our Development Services team, which is committed to shaping a better Moreton Bay by assessing and managing the effects of development on the community and environment, working in partnership with the development industry to design and construct infrastructure for the community as well as levying and recovering infrastructure charges to fund new and upgraded major community infrastructure.

About our opportunity
The role will primarily work with the Building Certification and Compliance Team, supporting the service this team provides in achieving compliance with Council-owned buildings and buildings on Council-owned land. Still, it will have responsibilities in supporting the broad team when required.
As our Business Support Officer, you will provide administrative and business support to the Development Services teams to ensure effective and efficient delivery of departmental operations within the Building and Plumbing Team.
Additionally, you will:
- prepare correspondence, briefing notes, presentations, and other business documents.
- assist in the review and update of resources, including template letters, forms, and customer service reference information
- provide a high level of customer service to both internal and external stakeholders
- assist with customer enquiries and Technology One processes including tracking and resolution
- work collaboratively with Senior Business Support Officers and other business support staff across the division
Building Certification and Compliance and Development Compliance
The Building and Development Compliance team undertake activities to ensure compliance with State and Local Government interests, including the City of Moreton Bay Council Planning Scheme. These activities also involve other statutory functions, including ensuring Building Work is undertaken in compliance with the building assessment provisions with a focus on Community Safety.
Plumbing
Councils Plumbing Services' main function is to regulate the carrying out of plumbing or drainage work to reduce risks to public health and safety and the environment. This is achieved primarily by ensuring all plumbing or drainage work, other than unregulated work, is carried out by qualified persons and ensuring that plumbing or drainage work is carried out and maintained in compliance with the code requirements for the work.
About you
We are seeking a highly adaptable Business Support Officer who thrives in a fast-paced working environment, with analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability analyse, interpret and report on data. You will bring your excellent administrative and time management skills to this role and have strong communication and well-developed people and relationships skills.
You will have:
- experience providing administrative support and assistance, including the preparation of quality correspondence and documentation
- sound knowledge of administration practices and procedures
- well-developed organisational skills and work ethic with the ability to work autonomously
- proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of programs and the ability to develop proficiency with council’s corporate systems
- excellent interpersonal skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage with stakeholders through all levels of the organisation.
