Join City of Moreton Bay as a Venue Maintenance Officer, and help shape and enhance our communities for today and tomorrow.
Primarily located at the Queensland State Equestrian Centre (QSEC), QSEC is Queensland’s premier equine facility. Hosting world class events across 30 hectares, the site is home to one of Queensland’s largest indoor arenas.
Our Venue Maintenance Officers’ are the backbone of QSEC operations. Responsible for the ongoing preparation, maintenance, and presentation of QSEC grounds and infrastructure, we’re looking for an experienced all-rounder with a can-do attitude. As Venue Maintenance Officer, you will:
- work collaboratively with the broader QSEC team to support event planning and delivery, and maintain high standards in workplace health and safety, as well as horse and livestock safety and biosecurity.
- undertake, prepare and maintain arena surface and training areas to competition standard (grading, dragging or rolling sand arena with tractor and implements).
- undertake minor repairs, cleaning and maintenance on facilities and equipment including buildings, plant equipment, arenas, stables, fences and yards.
- maintain effective working relationships with QSEC team and QSEC stakeholders/hirers and contribute to a positive team environment to achieve a high performance, continuous improvement, and customer focused culture.
Whilst working primarily with the QSEC, you may also be required to work across the Morayfield Sport and Event Centre and Redcliffe Entertainment Centre supporting venue operations and building maintenance.
You will be employed on a casual basis across a 7-day roster with occasional late-night shifts. It is anticipated hours will be approximately 15-30 hours per week, however, this is subject to change based on venue demands and working environment.

About you
It is important that you are physically fit and comfortable undertaking physically demanding duties and can proactively work autonomously across multiple teams.
Ideal candidates will have:
- Experience preparing and maintaining grounds and facilities within a large-scale commercial environment.
- Knowledge and application of Workplace Health and Safety policies and procedures.
- Sound experience and physical capacity to operate industrial machinery such as forklifts, tractors and undertaking manual tasks in a safety conscious manner.
- Well-developed people and relationship management skills with ability to work in a positive team environment communicating and engaging effectively at all levels.
- Experience working with horses or livestock preferred.
The following certifications will also be required for this position:
- Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
- Current Induction Card (White Card)
The following certifications will need to be provided within 30 days of commencement:
- Current First Aid and CPR
- Current High Risk Work Licence (HRW) - Forklift Truck
- Responsible Service of Alcohol Certification
- Current MR class drivers licence (to be booked within 30 days of commencement)
