The details:

  • Maximum Term Full Time (3 years) | 9 day fortnight
  • Starting at $52,544 pa (includes industry and uniform allowance) + 12% super
    Incremental increase will occur with time spent in the position or completion of agreed number of training competencies.
    Please note - junior rates apply for applicants under 21 years of age - remuneration starting from $47,840 pa + super
    Qld Local Government Industry Award (Stream B) - Level 5 of EBA
  • 76 hour fortnight
  • Location: Petrie / Narangba

Join City of Moreton Bay as an Apprentice Arborist, and help shape and enhance our communities for today and tomorrow.

As an Apprentice Arborist you will work towards completing your trade qualification through a range of work-based activities. This will include working as part of our trees teams to assist with and undertake onsite relevant arboriculture services and activities as outlined through legislative requirements for this position and the development of trade and technical knowledge through work-based training. You will:

  • Perform general labouring duties, predominantly related to our tree asset maintenance.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Safely use and maintain plant and equipment (chainsaws, chippers, polesaws etc. As well as elevating work platforms and trucks where licenced) in accordance with manufacturer's instructions and Council's safety policies and procedures.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have a passion for this industry, solid aptitude and ability to enrol in and complete a Certificate III in Arboriculture within the designated time frame.

Additionally, you will have the ability to safely perform manual handling/general labouring tasks and have an eagerness to learn new tasks and acquire new skills across a variety of work locations - including working at heights.

Ideally, you will have some exposure to the industry that has ignited your passion and drive to continue into a career and gain a qualification within the field. 

You will hold: 

  • A current C Class Driver's Licence
  • Construction Induction Card (or willingness to obtain prior to commencement at your own cost)

An additional requirement for this position is that you will obtain an MR (Medium Rigid) truck licence and an EWP (Elevating Work Platform) licence within the first 12 months of commencement.
