We’re looking for a driven and collaborative Technical Officer – Planning to support our Development Services Department in assessing development matters that shape the future of our growing community.

As a key member of our planning team, you’ll play a vital role in evaluating development applications, guiding land use decisions, and contributing to projects that support sustainable and well-designed urban growth. This is an exciting opportunity to provide technical expertise while working with a diverse group of professionals committed to creating vibrant spaces for the City of Moreton Bay.

What You'll Be Doing

• Providing technical input into planning and development assessments
• Refer applications in accordance with a referral matrix and apply and interpret state referral triggers  
• Calculate, levy and recover Development Application fees
• Coordinate, review and determine applications to be Properly made
• Supporting infrastructure charges and cost recovery processes
• Preparing well-reasoned technical reports and correspondence
• Engaging with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure quality service delivery
• Fostering a positive team culture that values continuous improvement and customer focus

About you

You are solutions focused, highly organised, and passionate about creating places that work—for today and the future. You know how to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and contribute to a positive team culture that thrives on high performance and customer focus.

What We're Looking For

• Diploma in Town Planning (or equivalent)
• A current “C” Class Driver’s Licence and White Card (or willingness to obtain)
• Proven experience in planning assessment and development compliance
• Solid understanding of Development Applications, the Planning Act, DA Rules, referral triggers and key legislation
• Awareness of the State Planning Policy, SEQ Regional Plan and relevant planning schemes
• Strong communication skills with the ability to juggle priorities and engage with a wide range of stakeholders
