The Details:

  • Permanent Full Time| 9 day fortnight 
  • $99,135 pa + 12% super (level 5) + a commuter use vehicle
  • 72.5 hour fortnight
  • Location: Narangba

Join the City of Moreton Bay as a Technical Arborist, where you'll bring your arboriculture expertise to support the effective management of Council’s tree assets. In this dynamic role, you’ll contribute to the health, safety and sustainability of our trees around the region through a range of technical and advisory responsibilities, including:

  • providing arboricultural site supervision on construction projects and contributing to development assessment and infrastructure planning to ensure appropriate tree protection and management outcomes
  • conducting independent tree inspections and risk assessments, and preparing reports and recommendations aligned with Council policies, legislation and industry standards
  • capturing, maintaining and updating Council’s tree asset database to ensure reliable data for informed decision making
  • offering expert advice on arboriculture matters to internal teams, contractors, and the community, escalating complex or strategic issues as needed
  • supporting the delivery of proactive and reactive tree maintenance programs, and contributing to the development and review of tree related policies, procedures and technical standards
  • assisting with tree planting programs, species selection and monitoring of tree health and establishment
  • taking on leadership responsibilities by supervising the tree inspections team and other staff, leading toolbox talks and information sessions, managing work allocation as required and fostering collaboration
  • staying current with legal and statutory requirements relevant to arboriculture, monitoring compliance and recommending policy improvements

About you

You’re a qualified arborist with a solid foundation in tree physiology, pest and disease identification and best practice arboriculture techniques. You’ll ideally have demonstrated experience in tree inspections, risk assessments and health monitoring, and you’re confident in your expertise to contribute meaningfully to technical reports and provide sound advice on arboricultural matters.

You’re comfortable using technology, open to learning new software programs and bring experience using digital tools and systems in previous roles. You’re organised, self motivated and capable of managing changing priorities while maintaining high standards in your work.

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

  • A Diploma in Arboriculture
  • A Construction Induction Card (or willingness to obtain prior to commencement)
  • A current C Class Driver’s Licence
