The Details:

  • Permanent Full Time | 9 day fortnight
  • From $117,991 pa up to $125,339 + 12% super (level 7)
  • 72.5 hour fortnight
  • Hybrid, flexible working environment, including some work from home days.
  • Location: Strathpine
 
We are excited to introduce a brand‑new role within our Project Delivery team.
 
As our Environmental Specialist, you’ll act as a trusted technical advisor, providing specialist expertise to support the effective management of sensitive environmental components across Council’s complex, multi‑disciplinary infrastructure projects.
 
In this role you will have the opportunity to;
  • ensure environmental risks are proactively managed and compliance obligations are met across capital works projects, aligning outcomes with Council objectives, legislation and community expectations
  • embed environmental considerations into project planning, design, procurement and construction to support sustainable and compliant project delivery
  • build and maintain effective relationships with internal teams, contractors, regulators and other stakeholders to support informed decision‑making and positive outcomes.

About you

We are seeking someone who has extensive experience working on complex environmental projects within a project delivery, infrastructure or construction environment. This role requires strong technical, regulatory and stakeholder capability to navigate environmental issues and deliver positive outcomes in a fast‑paced, politically sensitive setting.
 
You will have; 
  • extensive experience in interpreting and applying environmental legislation, regulatory frameworks and approval processes relevant to local government and major projects
  • demonstrated ability to provide high-level specialist technical advice on environmental assessments, impact mitigation, restoration, ecology, contamination or related fields
  • proven project management capability, including managing consultants, contractors, budgets and competing priorities to deliver positive project delivery
  • excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to prepare technical reports, briefings and information appropriate to the relevant stakeholder group or audience 
  • demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships and influence outcomes across multidisciplinary internal and external teams
  • the ability to work effectively and demonstrate sound judgement in navigating environmental issues across a fast-paced project delivery and political environment with competing deadlines 

You will hold a degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, biological science or related discipline. you will have your Construction Induction Card and C class driver's licence.
