Join City of Moreton Bay as a Senior Urban Designer and help shape and enhance our communities for today and tomorrow.
Reporting to the Coordinator Urban Design and Heritage, you will provide senior technical expertise and leadership across a range of strategic planning, urban design and placemaking initiatives. You will lead and support moderate-to-complex projects, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and work closely with stakeholders to deliver integrated planning outcomes that enhance the quality of our urban environments.
Key responsibilities include:
- Partner and foster strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to facilitate major projects and key policy reform
- Manage tasks and complex projects to achieve performance outcomes and contribute to the strategic direction and vision
- Contribute to the development and implementation of key policy around the planning scheme, significant major projects and key urban design and place making activities
- Represent Council at a range of customer meetings, community and business forums
- Collaborate on the review of the activities, business processes, procedures and policies of the strategic planning and place making teams
About you:
We are seeking someone with an innovative way of thinking, with refined skills in design and a degree in Urban Design, Town Planning, Landscape Architecture or another relevant field. You will have considerable experience and knowledge in urban design and development assessment practices, and experience in a similar role or a role requiring a similar skill set.
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- Comprehensive knowledge of planning, urban design and place making processes, including the Planning Act 2016, SEQ Regional Plan, Council local laws and policies.
- High level of judgement, conceptual and analytical skills in formulating, applying and adapting policies, using strategic approaches to achieve desired community outcomes
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to communicate complex concepts and negotiate sustainable outcomes
