We are looking for an experienced Principal People Systems Analyst to lead workforce analytics, reporting, and people systems improvement initiatives. This is an opportunity to combine your analytical expertise, systems capability, and commercial thinking to shape workforce strategy within one of Australia's largest and fastest-growing councils.

As part of our very own People & Capability team, you'll be the standalone go-to expert for people data, delivering sophisticated reporting, visualisations, dashboards and insights that support strategic decision-making across the organisation.

What You'll Be Doing

You'll be at the centre of our workforce analytics and people systems capability, leading initiatives that drive smarter business decisions through data. Key responsibilities include:

  • Potential HRIS implementation/ transformation pending review being undertaken of current system needs.
  • Designing and delivering workforce dashboards, reports, metrics, and workforce planning insights.
  • Conducting deep-dive analysis to identify trends, opportunities, risks, and actionable recommendations.
  • Translating complex workforce data into meaningful insights for executive and senior stakeholders.
  • Driving continuous improvement across people systems and processes through data-led solutions.
  • Leading systems enhancement projects, including requirements gathering, process design, testing, change impact assessment, and implementation.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders across the business to understand challenges and develop fit-for-purpose analytical solutions.
  • Improving data quality, reporting capability, and system functionality to support strategic outcomes.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a naturally curious analyst who enjoys solving business problems with data. You'll bring:

  • Ideally experienced in implementing HR systems, or undertaking significant transformations as we look to ensure our systems meet future needs.
  • Extensive experience in HR system and workforce analytics.
  • Strong analytical capability with a proven track record of turning data into insights that influence business decisions.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Macros, advanced formulas, dashboard development, data visualisation and charting.
  • Experience working with enterprise systems and large datasets.
  • Ability to communicate technical insights clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills and experience delivering projects that balance multiple business requirements.

Experience with our current system TechnologyOne is highly regarded, but not essential.
