This role sits within our Property Services Department, which manages Council’s commercial property portfolio and Regional Leisure Venues. The Department seeks to maximise commercial returns to Council through the acquisition, leasing, and disposal of properties, and management of assets including aerodromes, public swimming pools, the Queensland State Equestrian Centre, Redcliffe Entertainment Centre, Morayfield Sport and Events Centre, and caravan parks. The Department employs approximately 65 positions and manages an annual operational budget of approximately $21M, with revenues in excess of $10m.

About our opportunity

As the Commercial Property Coordinator you will investigate, negotiate and manage complex property acquisitions, disposals and leasing arrangements. In addition, you will manage and review Councils strategic surplus land disposal program and manage the conduct of public tenders and EOIs relating to Council properties and facilities. 

You will also be responsible for the management of Council properties to ensure lease and legislative compliance and achieve appropriate levels of return including recoveries and optimise asset outcomes. This will be achieved through providing expert advice, and managing relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders and service providers including other Council departments, government agencies, utility providers, sector consultants and lessees through.

About you

We’re looking to leverage your highly developed negotiation, interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to foster and maintain effective internal and external client relationships. This can only be achieved through your people and relationship skills and ability to work in a team environment communicating and motivating effectively at all levels of the organisation, contributing to a positive work environment with a strong focus on provision of quality client and customer service. 

You will be experienced and highly skilled in strategic property management and be able to demonstrate strong financial, governance and risk management knowledge and experience. As a must for this role, you will hold a Tertiary qualification/s in an appropriate discipline or significant management experience including relevant experience in a similar role or a role requiring a similar skill.

The Details

Term: Maximum Term Full Time - 3-year contract

Award/Level:  Qld Local Government Industry Award (Stream A) - Level 8 of the Moreton Bay Regional Council EBA4 Certified Agreement

Location:  Strathpine

  • $124,918 pa + Super + 10% allowance (allowance in recognition of any additional overtime, external market remuneration conditions and Council’s operational requirements of this position)
  • Leave loading
  • 72.5 hour fortnight
