Our Parks Team are looking for experienced labourers with a background in parks or general ground maintenance and/or trees maintenance to become part of a talent pool for Moreton Bay Regional Council’s full-time labouring opportunities. Be one of the first considered for current and up and coming labouring positions within Moreton Bay Regional Council’s asset maintenance department.
About our roles
Our Parks Labourers are part of our Asset Maintenance Team. Our Asset Maintenance team are responsible for the maintenance and renewal of our assets throughout our region. The areas of responsibility are primarily Roads and Drains, Parks, Cleansing, Construction, Fleet and Building and Facilities infrastructure. The Asset Maintenance department is one of the largest departments within Council, maintaining essential community infrastructure across the Moreton Bay region. This expression of interest is for our Parks and Gardens, Trees and Ground Maintenance teams in particular.
Parks and Gardens:
Typically working within small crews, lead by a crew leader - you will be maintaining the region’s parks and open space assets. The tasks and duties of this position will involve some manual handling/labouring tasks, application of herbicides and operating equipment associated with relevant maintenance tasks such as mowing equipment, brush cutters, mulching and blowers.
Trees:
Your responsibilities will include undertaking a range of labouring duties predominantly related to tree maintenance. This will include tasks such as moving tree branches, feeding the chipper, leaf blowing, raking leaves and smaller branches as well as other duties as required.
Our labourers within the Parks teams are usually working Monday to Friday 6:30am - 3:30pm with a rostered day off (RDO) every fortnight!
Location of work:
The picturesque Moreton Bay Region! Moreton Bay Regional Council have labourers based out of numerous depots across our region and we will keep suitable applicants informed on vacancy locations. Depot locations include Arana Hills, Dayboro, Petrie, Burpengary, Margate, Deception Bay, Bribie Island, Caboolture and Woodford. During the recruitment process we will confirm with you where you are willing to travel for work.
Term: Permanent Full Time
Award/Level: Qld Local Government Industry Award (Stream B) - Level 3 of the Moreton Bay Regional Council EBA4 Certified Agreement
Remuneration: $60,555 + super + applicable allowances (76 hour fortnight)
The Recruitment Process
Your application will be assessed in accordance with the role you have expressed interest in against your experience.
If your application is progressed, you will be contacted via email and invited to attend an Assessment Centre.
We anticipate our Assessment Centre will be held the Week Commencing 17th April 2023.
The purpose of the Assessment Centre is to provide you with more information about the opportunity at Moreton Bay Regional Council, answer your questions and complete an interview and assessment activity.
If your application is progressed from this Assessment Centre, you will be placed in our Talent Pool and contacted when a permanent opportunity becomes available. We will have a number of opportunities available on the day.
A few things to note:
- We are looking for applicants with recent and relevant experience in this field. Holding any additional qualifications, licenses or certifications relative to the described position is not necessary but would be considered desirable.
- The location of available position/s will be determined by operational requirements and communicated with you prior to starting background checks
- If your application is progressed from our Assessment Centre it will be held in our Talent Pool until a permanent opportunity arises. Your application will be held for 6 months.
- For a successful application outcome, you must hold a minimum of an MR driver’s license and a Construction Induction card (or be willing to obtain at your own cost prior to commencement) and relevant industry experience
- At the time of a permanent position becoming available, you will be contacted by our team and will be required to undergo a physical and hearing assessment with an independent professional nominated by MBRC as part of the recruitment process for this role, as well as a National Police History Check
