Moreton Bay Regional Council Cadetship in Plumbing Services
We have 2 Cadet - Plumbing Inspector roles up for grabs!
These roles are part of a newly introduced program to the Building and Plumbing Services department that has successfully progressed three (3) cadets into full-time Level Five (5) plumbing inspector roles within the term above.
Our Plumbing Inspector Cadetship is a two-year program providing a development pathway for a Queensland-licenced plumber and drainer in a local government setting. At the conclusion of the cadetship, you will have obtained the knowledge, skills, and on-the-job experience to be well-placed to begin your meaningful career as Plumbing Inspector.
As a cadet, you will undertake a mix of practical on-the-job training and formal learning to develop both technical and professional skills, learning about and supporting the functions of this team.
Council’s Plumbing Services' main function is to regulate the carrying out of plumbing or drainage work to reduce risks to public health and safety and the environment. This is achieved primarily by ensuring all plumbing or drainage work, other than unregulated work, is carried out by qualified persons and ensure that plumbing or drainage work is carried out and maintained in compliance with the code requirements for the work.
About the Opportunity:
As our Cadet - Plumbing Inspector, experienced staff will guide and train you while supporting them in their day-to-day duties that align with the main functions and managing relationships with our stakeholders.
You will learn to undertake the assessment and approval of commercial and domestic plumbing and drainage applications, inspections, and investigations into compliance matters in accordance with legislative and public health and safety requirements to minimise risk.
You will learn how to assess, inspect, and monitor on-site sewage facilities to ensure they are installed, operated and maintained in accordance with current legislative requirements and provide advice on those requirements.
This role will be diverse, exposing you to all aspects of Plumbing Services and the team's interactions with other business areas within Moreton Bay Regional Council.
About you:
We are seeking two plumbers who can cooperate and work well with others, approach tasks in a logical, organised, and professional manner to ensure the delivery of consistently high-quality work and keep yourself, your teammates, our community, and the environment safe.
You will be able to engage with various internal and external stakeholders. You will learn new skills and be faced with new challenges.
- Must hold a current and valid occupational Queensland plumber and drainer licence
- Hold or be willing to obtain a General Induction Licence (White Card)
- Hold a current Queensland C class driver's licence
Please note: Council will not be able to satisfy the on-the-job training requirements to move from a provisional licence to a full occupational licence. Please seek guidance from the Queensland Building and Construction Commission prior to applying for this role if you hold a provisional licence and have not completed the required 12 months and technical requirements to obtain a full occupational licence.
