City of Moreton Bay are proud to be partnering with the Queensland Government in the Skilling Queenslanders for Work - First Start Traineeship program.

This program aims to provide young people and disadvantaged job seekers with an opportunity to join our team for 12 months within a traineeship position where you will develop new skills and experience whilst undertaking a nationally recognised qualification and contributing to our local community through paid employment.

To be eligible for this program, you will identify as one of the below job seekers:

  • Young People (Aged 17–24 Years)
  • Long-Term Unemployed Job Seekers
  • Aboriginal And Torres Strait Islander People
  • Mature-Age Job Seekers (45 Years Or Older)
  • Migrants And Refugees From Culturally And Linguistically Diverse Backgrounds
  • People With A Disability
  • Displaced Workers
  • Women Re-Entering The Workforce
  • Veterans And Ex-Service Personnel and their families

The details:

  • Full Time - 12 months
  • $49,029 pa + super (up to 12%)
    (if under 21 - $44,453 pa + super) 
    Wage progression will apply after 4 months, or at completion of 5 units of competency
  • 9 day fortnight
  • 72.5 hour fortnight
  • Hybrid, flexible working environment, including some work from home days (1-2 /week)
  • Location: Narangba

Our Wellbeing and Safety team are currently searching for a motivated Trainee to join their team!

This opportunity will see you finish your 12-month program with a nationally recognised Certificate III in Business and gain significant knowledge and skills through your practical experience.

As the trainee in our Wellbeing and Safety team, you will be responsible for diligently undertaking the requirements of the training program whilst also providing administrative support to the everyday tasks and projects the team have on the go. This may include assisting with:

  • Electronically storing and updating records relating to safety training, compliance matters, injury and illness case management.
  • Scheduling and coordinating onsite clinics for health surveillance.
  • Maintaining health records and registers
  • Monitoring and processing incoming and outgoing correspondence.
  • Undertaking data entry and preparing basic reports with accuracy and proficiency.

In return, you will get invaluable mentoring and support from professionals in the wellbeing field, as they guide you through learning our systems, understanding the business support functions, and share their knowledge on what they see best practice safety and wellbeing within a workplace context.

About you

To be considered for the opportunity, you will: 

  • meet the eligibility criteria outlined above per the Queensland Government in the Skilling Queenslanders for Work First Start Traineeship program guidelines
  • be available for a June 2025 commencement date
  • meet citizen, residency, and visa requirements to undertake a Traineeship.
  • have the ability to complete the study requirements of a Certificate III in Business 
  • have a genuine interest to gain administrative experience whilst learning more about Wellbeing and Safety in the workplace
  • be able to work effectively as part of a team
  • have a basic level of understanding with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
