Join City of Moreton Bay as a Cadet Plumbing Inspector and help shape and enhance our communities for today and tomorrow.

We have multiple cadet roles available for licenced plumbers.

These roles are part of a newly introduced Building and Plumbing Services department program that has shown successful outcomes in cadets obtaining permanent roles within council.

Our Plumbing Inspector Cadetship is a two-year program that offers a unique development pathway for a Queensland-licensed plumber and drainer in a local government setting. By the end of the cadetship, you will have gained invaluable knowledge, honed your skills, and acquired substantial on-the-job experience, setting you up for a rewarding career as a Plumbing Inspector.

As a cadet, you will embark on a comprehensive practical, on-the-job training and formal learning journey. This unique blend of experiences will equip you with both technical and professional skills, allowing you to fully understand and support the functions of our team.

The Plumbing Services department plays a crucial role in our community, regulating the carrying out of plumbing or drainage work to reduce risks to public health and safety and the environment. This is achieved primarily by ensuring all plumbing or drainage work, other than unregulated work, is carried out by qualified persons and ensuring that plumbing or drainage work is carried out and maintained in compliance with the code requirements for the work.

About our opportunity

As our Cadet Plumbing Inspector, you will receive a mix of practical, on-the-job training and formal learning.

You will learn to assess and approve commercial and domestic plumbing and drainage applications, inspections, and compliance matters in accordance with legislative and public health and safety requirements to minimise risk.

You will provide technical advice to customers regarding the operation and maintenance of on-site sewerage treatment facilities.

This role will be diverse, exposing you to all aspects of Plumbing Services and the team's interactions with other Council business areas and external stakeholders.

About you

We seek someone who can cooperate and work well with others, approach tasks logically, organise, and professionally to ensure the delivery of consistently high-quality work and keep yourself, your teammates, our community, and the environment safe.

You will be able to listen and engage with a range of internal and external stakeholders. You will thrive learning new skills and being faced with new challenges.

  • Must hold a current and valid Queensland plumber and drainer licence (Not a Provisional Licence)
  • Hold or be willing to obtain a General Induction Licence (White Card)
  • Hold a current Queensland C class driver's licence
