As a Local History Leader and proud member of the Cultural Services Department, you will:
- Lead a small, passionate team in the strategic development of responsive, inclusive and engaging local history collections, services and programs across the museum and library network
- Manage collection development, digitisation, conservation, accessibility and disaster preparedness
- Drive programs that showcase regional heritage and spark community connections
- Develop and review operational budgets, business plans and programming frameworks
- Prepare high level reports, briefings and presentations
This role sits within our Cultural Services Department, which includes Galleries, Museums, Libraries, Heritage and Arts and Cultural Activation. With 10 libraries, 3 museums, and 3 galleries across the city – from Albany Creek to Woodford, we’re proud to offer vibrant, community-focused spaces that inspire learning, creativity and connection.

About you
Are you passionate about connecting communities with their heritage and bringing local stories to life? This could be the role for you! You’ll lead with purpose, work closely with a supportive team, and help make history meaningful and accessible for everyone.
You’ll also bring:
- Experience developing impactful local history strategies and programs
- Strong stakeholder engagement and people leadership skills
- Solid project management and grant reporting expertise
You will hold a valid Qld Working with Children Check (Blue Card) or be eligible and willing to obtain prior to commencement.
