The details:

  • Permanent Full Time | 9 day fortnight 
  • $71,286 pa (includes industry allowance and uniform allowance) + 12% super (level 6)
  • Please note, progression in remuneration (up to Level 8 - $75,738 pa inc. allowances + super) is available for this position upon meeting performance and training requirements outlined in a structured crew leader framework.
    Great news - EBA6 currently is underway, with a proposed increase of 5% effective 1 July 2025
  • 76 hour fortnight
  • Location: Burpengary - please note, this position will be moving to a Narangba location in the coming months

As a Crew Leader - Concrete in the Roads and Drains team, you’ll play a pivotal role in leading a small operational team to deliver high quality maintenance and repairs on Council’s concrete infrastructure assets. You’ll be hands on, overseeing day to day tasks while actively working alongside your team to ensure maintenance works are carried out efficiently, safely and to a high standard.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • taking direction from your supervisor to allocate daily work, ensuring your team has the necessary materials and resources on hand to complete each maintenance task
  • detecting defects or issues in concrete infrastructure, analysing fault causes and developing safe, effective solutions for prompt remediation
  • planning and tracking maintenance activities and schedules, as well as keeping up to date and accurate records using relevant technology/software
  • overseeing the proper use and upkeep of all plant and equipment, ensuring safety compliance in line with manufacturer guidelines and Council’s safety policies
  • communicating effectively with a broad range of internal teams, contractors and community stakeholders to support seamless, quality service delivery
  • direct involvement in general labouring duties such as repairing concrete structures, maintaining pathways, kerbs and channels, and addressing defects in various civil infrastructure as required

Your leadership and expertise will ensure Council’s concrete assets remain safe and functional for the community.

About you

You will have recent, proven experience undertaking concreting tasks and have demonstrated leadership skills in a team setting. Your strong communication and problem solving skills will assist you in engaging with colleagues and stakeholders, as well as managing work in a safety first environment. Proficiency with relevant workplace technology and sound administrative skills will be essential.

  • A current truck licence (minimum Medium Rigid - MR)
  • Construction Induction card (or willingness to obtain before commencing)
  • Traffic Management Implementation licence and a High Risk Work Dogging (HRW DG) licence (or willingness to obtain within 6 months of starting)

Having a Certificate III in Civil Construction or a similar qualification in a relevant field is highly desirable. However this qualification is essential for advancing through the Crew Leader Framework.
