The Details:

Join our Roads and Drains team as a Labourer working with our herbicide spray unit and play a vital role in preserving the appearance of our city's civil infrastructure. Working closely with a crew leader, you’ll be on the front line of vegetation management, ensuring our traffic islands, drains and other civil infrastructure remain clear and visually tidy.

Your primary responsibility will be to operate a Council spray vehicle and apply herbicide treatments across designated areas. This is a hands-on role that offers variety and the satisfaction of seeing results from your efforts. Some of the tasks include:

• Chemical spraying of weeds on traffic islands and medians
• Vegetation control around open drains and culverts as required
• Weed management on other hard to reach structures as required
• Basic maintenance of spraying equipment and ute mounted tanks
• Supporting the broader Roads and Drains team when required

Your work will directly contribute to the upkeep of our public spaces, helping to maintain clear sightlines and enhance the overall presentation of our city.

About you

Ideally, you will have recent experience in chemical spraying, vegetation control or similar outdoor labouring roles. We are seeking applicants who demonstrate:

• Knowledge of safe chemical handling and application practices
• Physical capability to perform some manual tasks in outdoor environments
• Experience operating spray equipment (desirable) 
• Strong communication skills and a team oriented mindset

In addition to these qualities, successful candidates must possess:

• A current truck licence (minimum MR - Medium Rigid)
• A Construction Induction Card (White Card)
• A current Agricultural Chemical Distribution Control (ACDC) licence or willingness to obtain
