Step into a role where you’ll use your specialist planning expertise to improve road safety and accessibility around schools across the City of Moreton Bay — leading projects that make daily travel safer and easier for our community.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll lead key transport planning initiatives, including the highly regarded Accessible Schools Program (ASP), and work closely with schools, internal teams and external partners to deliver practical, on‑the‑ground improvements.
You will:
- Lead and enhance the Accessible Schools Program, delivering targeted safety and accessibility upgrades around schools
- Provide expert transport planning advice to support safe and efficient movement across the region
- Build strong relationships with schools, community groups and government agencies to influence and guide outcomes
- Prepare and present clear technical reports on behavioural‑change options and infrastructure improvements
- Mentor and guide team members, leading a small project team to deliver high‑quality results
- Identify and pursue State and Federal grant opportunities for priority transport projects

About you
We’re looking for someone who brings strong technical capability along with excellent stakeholder‑engagement skills. You’ll be comfortable working with schools, internal teams, councillors and community groups, and able to translate complex planning issues into practical, easy‑to‑understand solutions.
You will bring:
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience in transport planning and design, including modal change, travel behaviour change and accessibility projects
- High‑level understanding of travel‑demand management principles, behaviour‑change programs and techniques
- Experience applying relevant local government legislation, planning principles and best‑practice
- The ability to think laterally and adapt solutions to changing political environments while maintaining strong customer and community focus
- Demonstrated experience preparing and presenting complex technical reports, with content tailored for both technical and non‑technical audiences
- Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships and drive well‑considered, sustainable outcomes
You will hold degree in civil engineering, transportation planning, urban planning or equivalent with previous experience or exposure to working with councils, schools and community consultation will be highly desired.
