It boasts award-winning commercial, educational, medical, leisure and residential precincts. The Council is the third largest and a rapidly growing local government area in Australia. A new organisational structure sees a functional realignment of the managerial framework to support the City’s forecasted growth and positioning to provide services to over 1 million residents post 2050.
 
Reporting to the Executive General Manager – City Administration, The GM Commercial is accountable for working in partnership with other areas of Council to make a significant contribution to improved economic and social outcomes for the City,  through the development and implementation of commercial initiatives and partnerships. Your opportunity is to help shape the growth of the region through innovative infrastructure projects and programs which will benefit the community, while protecting the natural spaces, and maintaining the lifestyle residents enjoy.
  Key Responsibilities and Outcomes
- Develop and implement strategies to optimise and diversify revenue through strategic initiatives.
- Lead the review and ongoing development of Council’s corporate strategy for investment options, marketing and management of Council’s revenue streams.
- Develop partnerships with the private sector in the City of Moreton Bay to seek strong commercial outcomes for Council.
- Develop annual operational plans to review and develop current Council’s revenue streams and source new opportunities for new revenue.
- Execute key strategic initiatives in accordance with the strategic plan and work with the CEO and SLT to ensure that annual operational plans are implemented and are effective.
- Lead the development and oversee implementation of long and short-term development, marketing and investment options for the development of Council’s commercial assets.
- Establish and maintain highly effective communication arrangements with relevant parts of Council and stakeholders from other levels of Government in relation to the management of commercial assets.
- Closely monitor political, economic, industry, employment and social trends and developments which may impact on current Council operations.
- Build and develop a cohesive and high performing team that is aligned to business needs and is characterised by teamwork, respect for others, ethical decision making, innovation and flexibility
- Foster teamwork, collaboration, innovation and a culture of excellence by working closely with coordinators and team leaders.
You will champion a values-based leadership approach which delivers a productive, safe and collaborative work environment, modelling high standards of conduct, performance and behaviour. The role requires a demonstrated ability to lead a range of staff to deliver on and exceed priorities whilst maintaining excellence in service whilst building on and further enhancing strategic relationships.  Significant success (15+ years) at management level in a similar position along with tertiary qualifications and strong commercial acumen, are highly desirable.
You will possess exceptional leadership skills and can clearly develop and translate Council’s objectives, policies, plans and strategies to internal and external stakeholders. Your strong sense of judgement and astute decision-making skills along with a strong customer ethos are imperative to the success of this role.
