The Details:

As a Crew Leader working within the Roads and Drains team, you will lead a small team undertaking assigned maintenance tasks on Council's civil infrastructure assets. You will take the lead in identifying and allocating the necessary materials for task completion, as well as detecting defect causes in assets to propose effective and prompt solutions. Additionally, you will be required to use technology/software to update and manage work orders and administrative tasks.

More specifically, this position will have you performing a variety of general labouring duties including:

• removal of debris
• fixing and replacing signs
• repairing road defects
• addressing drainage infrastructure defects
• fixing pathway, kerb and channel issues
• addressing traffic island defects
• maintaining other infrastructure and areas as needed

About you

Ideally you will have demonstrated recent hands on experience in civil infrastructure maintenance, with some experience leading others. You will also bring strong communication skills for effective interaction with both internal and external stakeholders, a proven ability to perform manual tasks in safety oriented environments, proficiency with relevant technology, and the capability to handle basic administrative duties.

Paired with the above mentioned skills and experience, you will also hold:

• a current truck licence (minimum medium rigid - MR) 
• a Construction Induction card (or be willing to obtain prior to commencement) 
• a Traffic Management Implementation licence and a high risk work dogging (HRW DG) licence (or be willing to obtain within 6 months of commencement)

Holding a Certificate III in Civil Construction or a similar qualification in a relevant field is highly desirable. Please note: this qualification is required to advance through the Crew Leader Framework.
