This Multi Skilled Plant Operator position plays a key role in supporting the City of Moreton Bay’s Roads and Drains team, delivering essential civil maintenance. Centring on daily operation of a backhoe, complemented by the use of additional plant and equipment, you will complete a variety of roads, drainage and civil infrastructure tasks. A strong emphasis is placed on open drain maintenance and ensuring community infrastructure remains safe, functional and compliant.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate the backhoe as the primary piece of plant equipment
- Operate other machinery within licence and training scope, including excavators, rollers, graders, front end loaders or skid steers.
- Undertake truck driving duties as required
- Complete daily pre‑start inspections and routine checks on all assigned plant and equipment.
- Identify and report defects, hazards and safety concerns promptly.
- Contribute to a safe, efficient, and collaborative work environment while supporting civil maintenance activities.

About you
You bring hands‑on experience operating backhoes and other medium plant equipment within civil construction or maintenance environments. You’re a reliable team member with strong communication skills and a proactive approach to safety. You understand the physical demands of the role and take pride in maintaining safe work practices and contributing to a positive site culture.
Required Qualifications & Licences:
- Minimum HR (Heavy Rigid) truck licence
- Construction Induction Card (White Card)
- Backhoe (LB) certification.
And at least one additional plant certification:
- Excavator (LE)
- Roller (LR)
- Grader (LG)
- Front End Loader (LL)
- Skid Steer (LS)
