The Details: 

  • Permanent Full Time - two positions available | 9 day fortnight 
  • $74,847 pa (includes industry allowance and uniform allowance) + 12% super (level 6)
  • Please note, progression in remuneration (up to Level 8 - $79,143 pa inc. allowances + super) is available for this position upon meeting performance and training requirements outlined in a structured crew leader framework.
  • 76 hour fortnight
  • Location: Narangba. 

As a Crew Leader within our Parks team, you’ll take the lead in maintaining and enhancing green spaces while guiding a small team of 1–2 operational staff. This role offers the perfect blend of hands on horticultural work and essential administrative responsibilities, ensuring the smooth and effective delivery of parks projects and ongoing maintenance services.

You’ll lead your team across a diverse range of activities, with projects that may be proactive, reactive or planned. This will include typical grounds maintenance tasks such as mowing, brush cutting, hedging, pruning and weeding, as well as horticultural project based tasks like tree planting, streetscape enhancements, mulching, fertiliser application, soil analysis and more.

In addition, you will support the planning and design of upcoming projects to drive continuous improvement of parks and open spaces.

As the Crew Leader, you will also:

  • Provide day to day guidance, mentoring and support to team members
  • Coordinate and allocate daily tasks
  • Promote and maintain safe work practices and compliance with organisational procedures
  • Use digital tools to create, update and manage work orders

Your leadership will play a key role in shaping the quality, safety and presentation of public open spaces across a variety of environments, making a visible and meaningful impact in the community.

About you

You'll bring practical experience in horticultural maintenance and have successfully led people in similar operational environments. You're confident working outdoors, taking the lead on site with projects and tasks, operating machinery and maintaining high standards of safety and presentation across green spaces.

You'll also demonstrate: 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to manage basic administrative tasks
  • Confidence using digital tools and software for scheduling and reporting
  • A proactive, organised and safety focused approach to work 

Mandatory Requirements

  • Current Medium Rigid (MR) class truck licence or above
  • Construction Induction Card (or willingness to obtain before starting)
  • Agricultural Chemicals Distribution Control (ACDC) certification (or willingness to obtain within six months of commencement)

Desirable Qualification:

  • Certificate III in Horticulture, Parks and Gardens, Landscape Construction or a related field.
    • This qualification is not required at appointment but is necessary for progression within the Crew Leader Framework.
