The Details:

  • Permanent Full Time  | 9 day fortnight 
  • $78,197 pa  (ie. $39.57/hour) - incl. industry and uniform allowance + 12% super (level 6) - effective 1 July 
  • Please note, progression in remuneration (up to Level 8) is available for this position upon meeting performance and training requirements outlined in a structured crew leader framework.
  • 76 hour fortnight
  • Location: Burpengary (this position will permanently relocate to Narangba in the coming weeks)

As a Crew Leader working within the Roads and Drains team, you will work alongside a labourer to undertake assigned maintenance tasks on Council's civil infrastructure assets. You’ll also take the lead in identifying and allocating the necessary materials for task completion, as well as detecting defect causes in assets to propose effective and prompt solutions.

More specifically, this position involves performing a variety of general labouring duties including:

  • removal of debris
  • fixing and replacing signs
  • repairing road defects
  • addressing drainage infrastructure defects
  • fixing pathway, kerb and channel issues
  • addressing traffic island defects
  • maintaining other infrastructure and areas as needed

The role involves using technology/software to update and manage work orders, administrative tasks and maintain basic records of completed works.

You’ll also be responsible for ensuring plant and equipment are used and maintained in line with safety and operational requirements, while supporting safe work practices across the team.

Hands on involvement and leadership capabilities will be key to effectively maintaining the safety and functionality of our community’s infrastructure.

About you

Ideally your application has demonstrated recent, hands on experience in civil infrastructure maintenance or construction - with some experience taking the lead on jobs.

You’ll bring strong communication skills for effective interaction with both internal and external stakeholders, the ability to safely perform manual tasks and confidence using and learning Council systems and relevant technology (we currently use TechOne)

Paired with the above, you’ll also be required to hold:

  • a current truck licence (minimum MR - medium rigid)
  • a Construction Induction card and;
  • a Traffic Management Implementation licence and a high risk work dogging (HRW DG) licence (or willingness to obtain within 6 months of commencement)

Holding a Certificate III in Civil Construction or a similar qualification in a relevant field is highly desirable. Please note: this qualification is required to advance through the Crew Leader Framework.
