We are seeking experienced, Queensland-licensed plumbers and drainers who are looking to transition from hands-on plumbing into a professional inspection and compliance career.
Our Plumbing Inspector Cadetship Program provides a structured development pathway, combining practical on-the-job experience, mentoring and formal training to prepare you for a future career as a Plumbing Inspector. Many participants have successfully progressed into permanent Council positions following completion of the program.
What you'll be doing
Working alongside experienced Plumbing Inspectors, you'll learn how to:
- Assess and approve residential and commercial plumbing and drainage applications.
- Conduct inspections and compliance activities in line with legislative requirements.
- Assess, inspect and monitor on-site sewage treatment facilities.
- Investigate plumbing compliance matters and support enforcement activities where required.
- Provide technical advice and guidance to customers and stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Build strong relationships across Council and with industry professionals

About you
You're a trade-qualified plumber who is interested in broadening your career and making a meaningful contribution to the community.
You will have:
- A current Queensland Plumber and Drainer Licence (not provisional).
- A current Queensland C Class Driver Licence.
- A White Card, or the ability to obtain one.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- The ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- A commitment to learning, professional development and continuous improvement.
- A genuine interest in building a career as a Plumbing Inspector.
