  • $79,563pa up to $94,415pa + super (up to 12%) + leave loading
    Qld Local Government Industry Award (Stream A) - Level 3 up to Level 5 of EBA5
    The appointed wage level will be dependent upon the successful candidate's level of experience, skills and qualifications.
  • 9-day fortnight
  • 72.5-hour fortnight
  • Hybrid, flexible working environment, including some work from home days.

Our Program Development Team is part of Building and Plumbing Services in our Development Services team, which is committed to shaping a better Moreton Bay by assessing and managing the effects of development on the community and environment, working in partnership with the development industry to design and construct infrastructure for the community as well as levying and recovering infrastructure charges to fund new and upgraded major community infrastructure.

Building and Development Compliance

The Building and Development Compliance team undertake activities to ensure compliance with State and Local Government interests, including the Moreton Bay Regional Council Planning Scheme. These activities also involve other statutory functions, including ensuring Building Work is undertaken in compliance with the building assessment provisions with a focus on Community Safety.

Plumbing

Councils Plumbing Services' main function is to regulate the carrying out of plumbing or drainage work to reduce risks to public health and safety and the environment. This is achieved primarily by ensuring all plumbing or drainage work, other than unregulated work, is carried out by qualified persons and ensure that plumbing or drainage work is carried out and maintained in compliance with the code requirements for the work.

About the opportunity:

As our Program Officer you will lead project and organisational change activities in relation to community engagement, land use and infrastructure charging and contributed assets relating to development assessment and compliance. You will be instrumental in resolving operational problems and developing and implementing initiatives, policies, processes, and systems for the effective and efficient administration of building and plumbing.

You will build strong relationships across a range of diverse internal and external stakeholders to ensure quality service outcomes are achieved.

In addition, you’ll:

  • assist in coordinating the implementation of projects, policies, practices and procedures relating to building and plumbing, including the delivery of training for staff in the department
  • contribute to a positive team environment in order to achieve high performance, continuous improvement and a customer focused culture
  • represent Council at a range of forums, providing technical knowledge and advice to key stakeholders.

About you:

We are seeking new team members who have a proactive, educational, and collaborative approach and a background in building, development, and environmental compliance. You will have experience and detailed knowledge of statutory requirements, council programs, policies, procedures and practices. You will have practical applied experience and the ability to analyse complex problems and develop solutions.

If you are an excellent communicator with the capability to engage with a variety of internal and external stakeholders and have a passion for our natural and built environment, we want to hear from you. 

An associate degree or Diploma in Project Management, Environmental and Regulatory Investigation or equivalent is desirable.
