The Strategic Planning and Place Making (SPPM) Department forms part of the City Futures Group and has a new and exciting opportunity for a Principal Portfolio Delivery officer to coordinate the delivery of its large portfolio of town planning and urban design projects that will help shape the future of the City of Moreton Bay.

SPPM takes a strategic and integrated approach to long term policy and planning to shape the future growth, accessibility, built form and liveability of the City of Moreton Bay. The department maintains contemporary data and it’s plans, programs and initiatives are structured to meet the sustainable growth management requirements of Australian and Queensland government legislation, including the State Planning Policy and SEQ Regional Plan (ShapingSEQ), in addition to supporting local policy aspirations, demands and needs and related non-planning initiatives. 

This position will work closely with the Departmental Manager and provide project management expertise and oversee the programming and delivery of the Reshaping our Region’s Planning Portfolio to meet the needs of the community within the City of Moreton Bay area.  In particular, the successful candidate will:

  • coordinate project management activities to ensure projects are delivered in accordance with department priorities, budget and resource availability
  • establish and coordinate departmental project governance processes
  • coordinate project management activities, identify and manage project risks, and provide regular performance and progress reporting.

About You
You will have demonstrated knowledge and experience in portfolio and project management practices which have seen the successful delivery of medium to large projects on time and budget.

The ideal candidate holds a tertiary qualification in business/ project management and has experience or an understanding of the state and local government operating environment.

We’re looking for a project specialist with strong knowledge of program and project management methodologies and software and can establish new systems and processes to manage the department’s portfolio, including resourcing and budget.

You will have excellent time management skills to manage conflicting priorities and meet deadlines and well-developed people and relationship skills to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders.

You have experience preparing project management plans that account for interdependent project components, capturing the necessary elements for streamlined project delivery and ability to build rapport with project stakeholders and confidently engage on project management planning aspects.
