The Details:

  • Permanent Full Time | 9 day fortnight | 76 hour fortnight | 2 positions available
  • These roles currently work full time hours over 4 days/week between 6:00am to 4:00pm with either a Monday or Friday off (team dependant). 12 month trial. 
  • $76,066 pa  (ie. $38.49/hour) - incl. industry and uniform allowance + 12% super (level 5) 
  • 76 hour fortnight
  • Location: Margate
 
We have two positions available within our Roads and Drains team, each supporting the delivery of civil maintenance activities across the region.
 
1. Multi Skilled Plant Operator (Excavator and Skid Steer Operator)

This role is focused on the operation of one of our combo units, made up of an excavator and skid steer. You'll predominantly be using machinery to clear drainage, remove concrete and support a range of minor civil works activities. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • operating a range of plant and equipment, primarily an excavator or skid steer 
  • operating other equipment where licenced and required
  • undertaking basic labouring tasks where required

2. Plant Operator (Backhoe)

This Backhoe role plays a key role in delivering essential civil maintenance activities. Centring on the daily operation of a backhoe, and complemented by the use of additional plant and equipment, you will complete a variety of roads, drainage and civil infrastructure tasks. A strong emphasis is placed on open drain maintenance and ensuring community infrastructure remains safe, functional and compliant.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • operate the backhoe as the primary piece of plant equipment
  • operate other machinery within licence and training scope

In both of these positions, you'll be contributing to a safe, efficient and collaborative work environment while supporting civil maintenance activities by:

  • completing daily pre-start checks and routine inspections on plant and equipment and reporting defects promptly
  • completing basic administrative tasks such as records, checklists and documentation
  • identifying hazards and contributing to a safe and efficient work environment
  • building positive working relationships with team members and stakeholders

About you

You bring hands on experience operating respective machinary relative to the positions above (excavators, skid steers or backhoes) and other medium plant equipment within civil construction or maintenance environments. You’re a reliable team member with strong communication skills and a proactive approach to safety. 

Required Qualifications & Licences:

  • Minimum HR (Heavy Rigid) truck licence
  • Construction Induction Card (White Card)

And certification to operate two of the following plant: 

  • Excavator (LE) - required for the Multi Skilled Plant Operator position 
  • Backhoe (LB) - required for the Backhoe position 
  • Roller (LR) 
  • Grader (LG)
  • Front End Loader (LL)
  • Skid Steer (LS) - required for the Multi Skilled Plant Operator position
