  • Permanent Full Time | 9 day fortnight includes fortnightly RDO
  • $99,135pa up to 103,338pa + 12% super (level 5)
  • 72.5 hour fortnight
  • Hybrid, flexible working environment, including some work from home days.
  • Location: Caboolture, local parking and walking distance to train station

The Strategic Planning and Place Making Department plays a key role in shaping the long‑term future of our city. We take a strategic approach to planning, policy development and place-based initiatives that support growth, improve accessibility and liveability, and protect our natural environment, heritage and resources. Our work aligns with the Southeast Queensland Regional Plan and State legislation while responding to local needs across the City of Moreton Bay.

As a Spatial Analyst you will undertake spatial analysis activities, specifically relating to strategic land use planning to meet the needs of the community. You will provide advice and respond to requests relating to spatial analysis to inform decision and ensure project outcomes are achieved.

We will also look to you to:

  • Develop, manage, and maintain spatial datasets to support analysis and decision‑making
  • Produce high‑quality maps and spatial outputs in accordance with organisational standards
  • Undertake spatial analysis to support the requirements of different planning teams
  • Develop and maintain web maps and interactive spatial applications for internal and external users
  • Provide end‑user support and training to improve understanding and effective use of spatial products and tools

About you

We are seeking someone that has a good working knowledge and experience in applying GIS technology, applications and spatial analysis specifically relating to projects and tasks in Planning. With a Degree in Spatial Science, Geographical Information, or equivalent qualification, you will have an understanding and experience in applying relevant legislation and policy and have recently been in a role with a similar skill set.

Additionally, you will have:

  • Demonstrated technical knowledge in the Esri suite including ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online and Portal for ArcGIS
  • Ability to confidently provide support and deliver training to non-GIS users
  • Strong time management, organisational, and communication skills
  • Knowledge of SketchUp, AutoCAD, Adobe Illustrator or Python is highly regarded.

Desirable to have a sound understanding of urban planning principles, with experience supporting planners through zoning and land use analysis, constraints mapping, and basic scenario modelling
