About our opportunity

Our Facilities Officer -Waste provides technical advice and support across Moreton Bay Regional Council's waste management facilities. You’ll be contributing to the effective and efficient operations of the waste facilities and other waste management programs and services, as well as acting as a key point of contact for the day to day operations and service delivery of large scale, complex waste management facilities. 

You’ll be involved in:

  • implementing and coordinating technical projects to improve the effectiveness and efficiency in the waste disposal and resource recovery processes and methods
  • developing and reviewing the department’s operational procedures, manuals, and work instructions
  • ensuring site compliance with relevant legislation, approved standards, policies and procedures.

You’ll also be preparing reports, correspondence and associated admin, and undertaking environmental health and safety and contractor compliance audits, and awareness training programs across Council's Waste Services facilities. 

As a member of the Waste Services team, you’ll play an integral part in supporting outputs across a range of landfill and resource recovery operations. 

Please note: 

  • Council currently has waste management facilities located at Bunya, Caboolture and Dakabin.
  • This position requires the successful applicant to be available to work any 5 out of 7 days as part of the ordinary hours.

About you

Bring your well developed experience in waste management facilities and transfer station operations to this role. You’ll also have great online research skills and be comfortable analysing information and incident investigations, and have a track record of great project management and time management skills. 

As a Facilities Officer - Waste team members you’ll be skilled in building high quality relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and work constructively and efficiently as part of a broader Waste Services team. 

To be eligible for this role you’ll need:

  • C class driver's license
  • Construction Induction Card (or be willing to obtain prior to commencement)
  • Tertiary qualification in waste management, environmental health/science, occupational health and safety or other relevant field, or have relevant experience in lieu of the qualification.
