What we do:  the Integrated Transport Planning (ITP) team transforms ideas into reality by leading Council’s transport planning programs.  We ask the questions about what the community of Moreton Bay needs for a better transport future; and answer them with multi-modal, integrated studies and investigations that inform future capital works projects and programs.

How we fit: If you want to influence how our future transport networks looks, works and performs; the ITP team is for you.  By working with colleagues such as those in strategic infrastructure planning and land-use/place-making, ITP investigate the need for, and decide on the best option to provide, new or upgraded movement networks across our region.  Our investigations directly influence which projects are actually delivered.

What motivates us: to ensure that the right projects are delivered where and when they are needed; that they deliver the best community outcomes possible; and they are consistent with Council’s strategic direction, such as the polycentric city vision, the Integrated Transport Strategy and Public Transport Framework.

How it effects the community: Success for us is having our community realise greater and more efficient options for movement and access into the future.  Better sustainability, safety, efficiency and reliability in every day transport is what we want to see for Moreton Bay’s residents, including improving our transport for pedestrians, cyclists and getting better integration between modes and land uses.

About our opportunity

Newly created role to meet the needs of our growing, new city!

As recently as 2023 Council was designated city status, and a successful city needs efficient and effective transport, and that transport - regardless if it’s a private, pubic or active mode - depends on a reliable network, and that network requires planning which best responds to and caters for the demands of the existing and growing population alike, be it residents, workers, students or visitors.

And to help with that planning Council requires this role, within the Integrated Transport Planning (ITP) team, to lead the establishment and achievement of multi-modal and network principles and outcomes that especially consider public transport and the context of regional, strategic and land use planning and development growth within the City of Moreton Bay (CMB).

Accordingly, as our Lead Transport Planner, you will have the opportunity to lead ITPD input on, responses to, and meeting the actions of, Council’s corporate and strategic documents and directions, including (but not limited to):

  • the corporate plan and specifically the KPIs it has adopted from Council’s Integrated Transport Strategy (ITS);
  • Public Transport (PT) outcomes, as established by other planning studies and Council’s own PT Framework;
  • key planning documents such as the LGIP and Council’s Planning Scheme (and any future new versions or amendments); and
  • relevant strategies, such as Council’s Environment and Sustainability Strategy, Growth Management Strategy and the Regional Economic Development Strategy (REDS).

You will also be the primary and lead contact for all property matters referred to ITPD that are not project related, such as general road reserve or boundary and private property adjustments that would impact the existing or planned transport network.

About you

A unique and interesting role ready for a skilled leader and passionate transport professional!

We are seeking someone who has strong skills in technical leadership and the ability to lead others and work to guide project outcomes.
