Join City of Moreton Bay as a New Planning Scheme Content Lead and help shape and enhance our communities for today and tomorrow.

City of Moreton Bay is in the process of developing a program for a New Planning Scheme. As part of this, a new role has been created for a ‘New Planning Scheme Content Lead’ within the New Planning Scheme team of the Strategic Planning and Place Making Department. This program, and role, will help shape and enhance our communities for today and tomorrow.

This position is a maximum term contract for 4 years and will lead a team of technical specialists providing oversight and quality control on the ongoing testing of planning scheme structure/architecture and drafting of planning scheme content for the New Planning Scheme, consistent with legislative requirements, to meet the needs of the community within the City of Moreton Bay area.

You will also

  • report to, and provide regular updates and advice to the Coordinator, New Planning Scheme with regard to the drafting of planning scheme content, whilst also fostering team engagement and supporting/informing relevant governance groups
  • provide expert advice in strategic land use planning in accordance with legislative, policy and business requirements.
  • provide positive leadership, direction/feedback and quality control to team members (and consultants) in the testing of new planning scheme architecture and drafting of content (including mapping oversight).
  • liaise closely with the New Planning Scheme Policy Lead to seek clarification on policy directions and to provide feedback on integration matters.
  • build high level relationships across a range of diverse internal and external stakeholders to ensure projects and service deliverables are achieved.

About you

With ample experience and knowledge in strategic land use planning and development assessment practices, and delivery of highly complex strategic land use planning projects. You will also hold a Degree in Urban and Regional planning or equivalent qualification.

Additionally, you will have:

  • ability to lead projects and teams and oversee the delivery of highly complex strategic planning projects and specialist project teams (including external consultants).
  • substantial experience in project management and associated risk management practices, and ability to adjust as needed to achieve strategic and business outcomes.
  • high level experience in drafting planning scheme content and communicating this approach to a range of project stakeholder
  • extensive knowledge and experience in applying relevant state and local government legislation, including the Planning Act 2016, SEQ Regional Plan, Council planning schemes, local laws and policies
  • excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to communicate complex planning concepts and matters in a simple and concise manner and negotiate sustainable outcomes.
