This role sits within the Construction Team in our Asset Maintenance department. The Asset Maintenance department is responsible for the maintenance and renewal of Council’s assets throughout the region. The areas of responsibility are primarily Roads and Drains, Parks, Cleansing, Construction, Fleet and Building and Facilities infrastructure. The Asset Maintenance department is one of the largest departments within Council, maintaining essential community infrastructure across the Moreton Bay region.
Your responsibilities will include delivering assigned construction tasks by leading a team of internal and external resources (including a small work crew and contractors) and undertaking general labouring on construction projects as required. You will be required to interpret job plans, conduct survey set out of projects with limited assistance from construction management and effectively and consistently run construction projects in the absence of construction management representatives.
The Crew Leader is also required to engage with a range of diverse internal and external stakeholders and ensure the principles of safety, quality assurance and environmental risk management are being applied correctly throughout the Civil Construction projects allocated.
To be successful in this role you will have substantial knowledge of relevant construction materials and capability of plant and equipment - including hand tools, strong knowledge of survey principles and current survey technology - including construction specifications and standards. You will have experience in the day to day management of Construction day labour teams (including contractors) on a range of construction projects and a solid level of written and verbal communication skills.
You will also hold the below qualifications/certificates/licenses:
- a Certificate III in Civil Construction or other relevant field (or the ability to obtain within a period of 12 months)
- a current MR class driver's license
- a dogman ticket (HRW DG) - or ability to obtain within 6 months
- Construction Induction Card
- Electrical Awareness - or ability to obtain within 6 months
- Traffic Control Level 1 & Level 2 (highly desirable)

Remuneration: From $61,736 pa + super (76 hour fortnight) + applicable allowances
Please note, progression in remuneration (up to level 8 - $65, 418 pa + super) is available for this position upon meeting performance and training and requirements outlines in a structured crew leader framework.
