  • $142,219pa + super (up to 12%)
  • Note, this rate is inclusive of a 10% above EBA payment allowance in recognition of any additional overtime, external market remuneration conditions and Council’s operational requirements of this position.
  • Qld Local Government Industry Award (Stream A) - Level 8 of the MBRC EBA4 Certified Agreement
  • 72.5 hour fortnight
  • Location: Strathpine

About our opportunity

Join our Emergency Management leadership team and lead the Council’s disaster management arrangements, the Council’s support to the State Emergency Service and identify strategic and operational improvements.

Known in our organisation as the Disaster Management Coordinator, leading a team of five, you’ll be coordinating emergency responses and overseeing MBRC’s Local Disaster Coordination Centre to support disaster response across the Moreton Bay Local Government Area. You’ll also be ensuring that the LDMG executes activities and programs across all phases of disaster (Prevention, Preparedness, Response and Recovery) in the most effective and efficient way.

You’ll be building high-level relationships with stakeholders ensuring quality service delivery and documentation across a broad range of complex mitigation and management issues. Seeking to build strategic relationships within the State of Queensland and nationally with a high-level of expertise in risk management approaches that align with the concepts contained within the Queensland Emergency Risk Management Framework.

This is a fantastic opportunity for you to play a lead role in inputting thought leadership for the annual training and development process across the LDMG and internal Council training needs and monitor implementation in relation to disaster management, ensuring compliance with best-practice and the Standard for Disaster Management Queensland.

As the Disaster Management Coordinator you’ll managing Councils’ disaster management compliance with relevant legislative and policy criteria, and embedding capability and capacity in an environment that encourages participation, teamwork, innovation and excellence.

About you

With extensive experience leading high-level disaster or crisis management planning and project implementation, you also share your ability to lead and manage teams in high-pressure situations, during disaster response and recovery operations.

Additionally, you will have:

  • excellent presentation and communication skills and deliver engaged and constructive outcomes with key stakeholders
  • the ability to contribute to fostering a healthy, inclusive and well-connected workplace
  • applied knowledge of sound financial practices within a legislative environment.
