  • 72.5 hour fortnight

About our opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a leader to join our team at Strathpine! Our Community Planning and Policy team is a growing, dynamic team committed to achieving great outcomes for our communities. We do a combination of policy, strategy development and project work.  Your day to day will be a combination of research, stakeholder engagement and writing - policies, strategies, project plans, Council briefings, memos.

You will work on some of Council’s key strategic projects within Council’s Community Wellbeing Strategy, shaping community wellbeing and social policy in for the City of Moreton Bay.  Our projects include finalisation and implementation of a new evaluation framework for the Community Wellbeing Strategy, roll out of the Housing and Homelessness Action Plan, development of a new Access and Inclusion plan and reshaping community support policies.

Reporting to the Community Development and Planning Manager, you will work closely with officers directly supporting community organisations and stakeholders, to interpret their needs into policy that supports strong and sustainable community outcomes. You will develop a detailed understanding of the region’s diverse communities through review of demographic and consultation data and assist officers to integrate these insights into service and business planning.

We are looking for someone committed to inclusion and eager to drive change. You’ll have great people skills and enjoy building relationships to find new ways to approach challenges and find opportunities. You’ll be someone who can interpret policy into action.  You will need to be able to change direction quickly and bring with you strong project management skills.

You will have:

  • significant knowledge of community planning and policy frameworks
  • rad skills in research, data analysis and strategy development
  • ability to flex and change like a yoga instructor and apply solutions thinking
  • an understanding of the role of local government in social policy
  • knowledge of contemporary trends and challenges experienced by diverse communities and community organisations
  • a passion for cakes/slices/coffee and wide-ranging conversation!
