The Strategic Planning and Place Making Department takes a long term approach to reshaping or region’s planning. As our region continues to grow, we remain committed to find the best options to shape the future urban form, accessibility and liveability of our region whilst managing natural hazards and protecting and conserving our natural resources, environment and heritage.

About the Opportunity:
As our Senior Strategic Planner - new Urban Growth Model you will provide expert advice in strategic land use planning matters relevant to the delivery of the new Urban Growth Model in accordance with legislative, policy and business requirements.
You will lead and support the delivery of moderate-to-complex strategic planning tasks (including external consultants) to deliver the new Urban Growth model and contribute to a positive team environment in order to achieve a high performance, continuous improvement and customer focused culture.
We are seeking someone who has considerable knowledge and experience in strategic land use planning and development assessment practices and excellent communication skills with an ability to communicate complex planning concepts and matters in a simple and concise manner and negotiate practical, pragmatic and sustainable outcomes.
You will have:
considerable experience in the delivery of moderate-to-complex strategic land use planning projects, including leading and
guiding project-based teams and conducting evidence-based research to inform policy options and directions
substantial knowledge and experience in applying relevant state and local government legislation, including the Planning Act
2016, SEQ Regional Plan, Council planning schemes, local laws and policies
the ability to support projects and teams in response to changes in direction in uncertain or emergent circumstances and in a rapidly changing policy environment.
You will hold a Degree in Urban and Regional Planning or equivalent and have excellent people and relationship skills with the ability to work in a team environment contributing in alignment to our organisational values of service, teamwork, integrity, respect and sustainability.
