This role sits within our Cultural Services Department, which includes Galleries, Heritage and Museums, Libraries, and Cultural Activation. Cultural Services aim to provide engaging leisure and learning experiences by connecting people to resources and each other. We strive for excellence when delivering exhibitions, information, collections, programs and spaces for our community and visitors. Our department employs approximately 220 staff over 16 venues throughout the region.

About our opportunity

We have exciting and rewarding part time opportunities available for Venue Support Officer’s to join our museum team!

As a Venue Support Officer, you will be the first point of contact for our museum visitors and ultimately be responsible for providing them with memorable and positive experiences.

You will achieve this by providing holistic and exceptional customer service to invite, engage and connect our visitors to our exhibitions. You will deliver and support museum programs and events in addition to supporting the operations of the museum to ensure a welcoming, safe and clean environment. You will also assist with the installation and de-installation of exhibitions and actively contribute to a positive team environment.

Each position will be rostered a minimum 16 hours per week and include working weekends.

About you

You will have an exceptional capacity and demonstrated experience providing face to face customer service in a fast-paced environment. Experience within cultural services or at a cultural facility or venue will be highly desirable, but not essential.

You will be naturally curious and intuitive with demonstrated ability and initiative to build relationships with a diverse audience. In addition, you are a respectful and friendly individual who can work autonomously, but also thrive working in a collaborative team.

Essential Criteria

  • Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
  • COVID-19 vaccination - in accordance with the current QLD Health mandate
  • Availability to work weekends
  • Genuine interest and passion for working within a cultural venue
  • Customer service skills and experience  

Although not essential, a Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate will be highly desired.

The Details

Term: Permanent Part Time

Award/Level:  Qld Local Government Industry Award (Stream A) - Level 2 of the Moreton Bay Regional Council EBA4 Certified Agreement

Location:  various museum locations

  • $34.62 per hour + super (up to 12%)
  • 16 hours per week
