The details:

  • Permanent Full Time 
  • $71,286 pa (including industry and uniform allowances) + 12% super + leave loading - please note, progression in remuneration (up to Level 8 - $75,378 pa plus super) is available for this position upon meeting performance and training requirements outlined in a structured crew leader framework.
  • Qld Local Government Industry Award (Stream B) - Level 6 of the EBA5
  • 9 day fortnight
  • 76 hour fortnight
  • Location: Arana Hills 

As one of our Crew Leaders working within the Roads and Drains team you will be responsible for delivering assigned maintenance tasks by leading and working alongside a small team (predominantly a labourer) to deliver operational maintenance on civil and transport infrastructure assets. This will also include identifying and allocating relevant resourcing and materials required to undertake tasks, identifying defects on civil infrastructure assets and providing suitable solutions to safely address risks and engaging with internal and external stakeholders as required.

More specifically, this position will have you carrying out general labouring duties to maintain your dedicated run area, ensuring it remains tidy and free of any safety hazards. This will include things like replacing signs, fixing various road defects, fixing pathway and kerb and channel defects, traffic island defects and other infrastructure/areas as required.

About you

Ideally you will have demonstrated current or recent experience maintaining or working with civil and/or transport infrastructure and some experience in leading people previously. We'll ask you to bring your experience undertaking manual operational tasks in an environment where safety is of high priority, your ability to adapt to a range of technology solutions and your ability to undertake administrative activities relevant to this position. Please note - safety is a key priority for us as an organisation, and we will be seeking candidates who not only have the knowledge and physical ability to safely undertake the manual tasks required in this role, we want you to have a genuine desire to contribute to a positive safety culture.

Paired with the above mentioned skills and experience, you will also possess a current truck licence (minimum medium rigid - MR) and a Construction Induction card. You will also either hold or be willing to obtain a Traffic Management Implementation licence and a high risk work dogging (HRW DG) licence within 6 months of commencement. It would be considered desirable if you have completed a Certificate III in Civil Construction or another similar qualification in a relevant field but not mandatory, though the qualification will be mandatory to progress through the Crew Leader Framework.
