The details:

  • Permanent Full Time
  • $71,286 pa (includes industry allowance and uniform allowance) + 12% super + leave loading. Please note, progression in remuneration (up to Level 8 - $75,378 pa plus super) is available for this position upon meeting performance and training requirements outlined in a structured crew leader framework
  • Qld Local Government Industry Award (Stream B) - Level 6 of the EBA5
  • 9 day fortnight
  • 76 hour fortnight
  • Location: Narangba 

About our opportunity

Join our Parks team and play your part in maintaining our arboricultural assets for our growing community.

As a Crew Leader - Trees, you will lead a small team engaged in operational maintenance duties, focusing on arboriculture operations. You will receive your direction and work allocation from your line supervisor and lead the quality and timely delivery of these. We will look to you to:

  • Identify and allocate relevant resourcing and materials required.
  • Undertake assessment of trees and make recommendations in regard to health, risk and proposed maintenance.
  • Identify and engage with a range of technical staff in relation to implementing arboricultural solutions.
  • Inform leaders of any team delivery, infrastructure and plant and equipment issues as they arise.
  • Operate and maintain plant and equipment provided including PPE, in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions, council’s safety policy and procedures.

About you

We are seeking someone experienced in performing tree maintenance, and with the industry knowledge of arboricultural best practices and relevant Australian Standards and Guidelines.

You will be experienced leading people, focused on contributing to a safety focused workplace, and have the communication skills and technology literacy to effectively undertake the administrative and technology requirements of this role.

Additionally, you will have:

  • MR class driver's licence
  • Certificate III in Arboriculture or other relevant qualification
  • Construction Induction Card (or willing to obtain prior to commencing)
  • Certificate of competency in maintaining chainsaws and trimming and cutting felled trees (level 1) and certificate of competency in felling small trees (level 2) 
  • Agricultural Chemicals Distribution Control (ACDC) certification (or be willing to obtain within 6 months of commencement)
