  • Permanent Full Time
  • $93,066 pa (includes industry, uniform and supervisor allowances) + 12% super + a commuter use vehicle + leave loading
    Qld Local Government Industry Award (Stream A) - Level 4 of the EBA5
  • 9 day fortnight
  • 76 hour fortnight
  • Location: Petrie - please note, this position will be moving to a Narangba location in the coming months

As a Supervisor within our Roads and Drains team you will be responsible for planning, coordinating and supervising the activities of assigned operational maintenance teams, your duties will include: 

  • ensuring effective and safe operational maintenance delivery by supervising the day to day operations of a number of small teams (consisting of crew leaders, labourers and truck/plant operators)  
  • developing both scheduled and unscheduled work programs including managing all resources to ensure works are completed to Council's agreed quality standards in a cost effective in timely manner
  • reviewing, assessing and managing customer requests relating to maintenance functions 
  • developing the skills of your assigned teams to ensure your team members are performing their tasks safely and effectively 
  • managing subcontractor performance on maintenance projects

You will be required to develop and maintain a level of technical expertise that will enable you to come up with a range of solutions relating to maintenance issues. Additionally, you may be required to provide support to management with developing the annual budget, annual plant and equipment request submissions, policies, procedures and guidelines

Please note - this role requires the participation in council's "After Hours On-Call and Programmed Overtime Roster" service.

About you

Ideally you will have demonstrated experience working within a similar position. You will have a solid level of experience in delivering a range of maintenance and construction activities related to transport and civil infrastructure and experience leading operational teams. We'll need you to bring your well developed communication skills, people and day to day management skills as well as have the ability to understand risk and governance issues as they apply to this position. Safety is a key priority for us as an organisation, and we will be seeking candidates who not only have the knowledge and physical ability to safely undertake any manual tasks required in this role, we want you to have a genuine desire to contribute to a positive safety culture.

Paired with the above mentioned skills and experience you'll hold a current truck licence (minimum MR class), Construction Induction card, and ideally Certificate III in Civil Construction or a similar qualification. You must also have or be willing to obtain a Traffic Management Implementation licence (or similar) within 3 months of commencement.
